Allergies

True food allergies are immune reactions to food. These reactions begin to cause symptoms immediately after a trigger food is eaten. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, and may include a rash, swollen or itchy tongue, runny nose, hives, abdominal pain, vomiting, trouble breathing, coughing, wheezing, or a closed airway and may require urgent medical intervention

Sensitivities

Food intolerances are non-immune reactions to certain food components (e.g., lactose, histamines, alcohol, etc.) that occur when a person is lacking the digestive enzyme or nutrient responsible for breaking down those food components. Intolerances can cause flushing, cold or flu-like symptoms, inflammation, and general discomfort, because the body lacks the appropriate tools to break down trigger foods.

Intolerances

Food sensitivities can cause reactions that are delayed by hours or even days. These food reactions are usually caused by an imbalance in the gastrointestinal system that is affecting the immune system. One such imbalance is intestinal permeability, or “leaky gut syndrome.” Symptoms of food sensitivities differ from person to person, and can depend on the type of food eaten.

What are allergies and do you test them?

The word “Allergy” is often used to describe any adverse reaction to a food, drug, chemicals, insect stings, pets or pollens.  A ‘true’ food allergy, is quite rare with only 2% of the UK adult population known to suffer, although it can affect up to 8% of children.  True food allergies are immune reactions to food. These reactions begin to cause symptoms immediately after a trigger food is eaten.

Detecting allergies
Allergies are detected by measuring the Immunoglobulin E count (IgE) in the blood, as these are specific blood cells that help to combat allergies. If you have an allergy to a particular food or non-food item, your body will begin to react the moment it comes into contact with it. Common allergic reactions can include localized swelling (i.e. of the throat or tongue), a rash, or difficulty breathing. Peanut, shellfish, egg and soy are among some of the most common allergens.

The most common method of diagnosing allergies is with a simple blood test, usually testing the IgE or IgG levels in the blood. IgE allergies are immediate responses to a foreign substance that has entered the body. These foreign substances can come from food or can come from inhalation. IgE allergies can cause very serious symptoms like difficulty breathing, swelling, and hives. In even more serious cases IgE reactions can lead to anaphylactic shock and require immediate medical attention

Our service does NOT include allergy testing, it is for intolerances and sensitivities.

Common sources of food allergies are peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, milk, fish, and shellfish. However, many other foods can also cause allergic reactions.

This service is for As of right now, we are only offering intolerance/sensitivity testing.

What exactly are intolerances and sensitivities?

Food intolerances and sensitivities are non-immune reactions to certain food components (e.g., lactose, histamines, alcohol, etc.).  An intolerance is the body’s inability to digest an item properly, whether this is a food intolerance or an environmental factor (a non-food intolerance). Intolerances can occur due to a number of reasons, generally, the body is lacking the necessary digestive enzymes(s) or nutrients to make the enzymes for those certain food compounds and therefore cannot digest the item properly or efficiently take the nutrients from it.

Intolerances can cause flushing, cold or flu-like symptoms, inflammation, and general discomfort, because the body lacks the appropriate tools to break down trigger foods.

Food sensitivities can cause reactions that are delayed by hours or even days. These food reactions are usually caused by an imbalance in the gastrointestinal system that is affecting the immune system. One such imbalance is intestinal permeability, or “leaky gut syndrome.”  Another reason is many symptoms are the result of a sensitivity to a particular item due to over-consumption or overexposure of an item.

Food sensitivities are generally less severe than IgE food allergies and typical symptoms can include; headaches and nausea, seizures and hyperactivity. These may occur hours or even days after the offending food has been ingested.

The degree and severity of symptoms vary because of the genetic makeup of the individual. Food sensitivities are generally treated by removing problem foods from the diet and by helping digestion with enzymes and probiotics.

Does over the counter allergy medicine affect results?

It will have no affect on your test results.  We are testing intolerance’s for foods, non-foods, metals, minerals, and nutrition.

What if I don’t have hair on my head?

No problem! We can use any hair on your body, e.g arms, legs, or we can also screen using a freshly cut nail sample.

Does dyed hair affect the test result?

No, dyed, colored or highlighted hair will not have any affect on your test results.

Can you do this for babies, children or pets?:

Yes, our screening process is completely non-invasive so as long as we receive a sample we do screening for babies, children, dogs, cats, and horses.  We have even done guinea pigs.

How does your test compare to a blood test?

A recent double-blind study from a clinical pool of 1800 patients comparing our method of testing with blood chemistry yielded a 97% correlation with blood chemistry.

Our test is also non-invasive and given the number of false negatives reported in blood work and the initial requirement and costs involved of initially choosing the correct test, we believe our test is more accurate and reliable than the blood tests.

In addition, we are not just screening and providing results, we also give you a detail report, the nutritional supplements your body will benefit from and the personalised ‘META’ energetic balancing remedy to support you body.

How long does it take to get my results?

We aim to return your results to you waiting 5 working days from the day after we  receive your sample.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any control over the postal service so times may vary.

How do I get information about my order?

Once we have sent you initial confirmation email, it will contain all the contact details required should you need them.
