Allergens, Intolerances, Histamines, Phenolics, Mast cells

A really common problem I see with clients who come to me with long-term health challenges such as Chronic fatigue, ME, Fibromyalgia or Lyme disease, is that they are missing one of the earliest fundamental healing strategies required before they start taking any medications or supplements, and it’s this:………

There has been an historical build up of toxicity in the body which has not been able to release through the regular detoxification channels.  These clients are not sick, they are TOX-sick, and here’s why?  This accumulation of toxicity has created a hypersensitivity in the body, but these hypersensitivities are not ‘true’ allergies as in the case of anaphylactic shock (which requires immediate medical attention), they are informational disturbances, where the immune system has got it’s messages mixed up, and these hypersensitive immune responses are reactions to what is otherwise a benign substance.

In reality, this heightened sensitivity means that basically everything you are trying to do to heal, is just causing further inflammation in the body like a vicious cycle, and the answer does not like in either the medical or biomedical intervention but it requires intervention on an energetic level to re-programme these sensitivities, prior or whilst taking physical or chemical products.

The golden rule with sensitivities – Elimination helps, Nutrition heals, Energy medicine re-educate’s the immune system

Identification of Intolerances or allergies

An Allergen  is a substance that causes an allergic reaction in the body.  There are conventional medical tests such as provocation, skin prick, intradermal or patch testing which all rely on the presence of antibodies and are useful for allergies but do not detect sensitivities or intolerances.  The bioenergetic model upholds that hypersensitive responses are an information disturbance, rather than a chemical one.

When it comes to allopathic treatment of allergies, conventional or western medicine (guided by its biochemical model), administers counteracting chemicals of which the following are the four main types:

  1. Antihistamines.  Block the body’s release of histamines and therefore reduce inflammation.
  2. Steroids (e.g. cortisone).  These are hormones that minimise the effect of the body’s natural corticosteroids, depressing the synthesis, release and activity of inflammation-producing chemicals. Whilst they can be life saving during anaphylactic reactions, they also suppress the immune system and can have long-term side-effects.
  3. Mast cell stabilisers,  These prevent the breakdown of mast cells which are responsible for the release of histamine,  These drugs can cause drowsiness.
  4. Immunotherapy.  this is a course of ‘allergy shots’ which are typically vaccinations against the allergic substance ( such as a dust or pollen), in response to which the body produces antibodies)  for more on Iso-immunotherapy read here).

The bioenergetic criticism of these orthodox methods of treatment is that whilst the drugs will provide short-term relief of the symptoms, they do not address the underlying root cause.  More importantly, the immune system of the digestive tract releases not only histamine but a wide variety of other inflammatory molecules, therefore antihistamines are irrelevant to the treatment of many food reactions.

Neither is giving a list of ‘foods to avoid’ a suitable tactic and here’s why.  There are chemical compounds known as phenolics (of which histamine is only one).  Phenolics are aromatic phenol-based compounds that are found widely in plants, foods and pollens. They give colour, flavour and aroma to foods, as well as protect plants from pathogens and attract pollinating insects.   Most perfumes, cooking odours and chemical smells are phenolic compounds.   Generally, they are protective compounds and therefore essential to health, However, when metabolised incorrectly phenolics can cause many disturbances.

What do you think these foods have in common?

apple, artichoke, lima bean, navy bean, pinto bean, red bean, string bean, carrot, cauliflower, coffee, red and green grape, lettuce, potato, green olive, and ripe olive.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to hear you say, Ah yes, healthy foods, but here’s the thing……..they all contain  one of the most widespread of all the phenolics, Caffeic acid (found in plants and also occurs naturally in all these foods).  Yet, as a treatment, Caffeic Acid is essentially an allergy-related chemical.   It has been used for allergic rhinitis, pharyngeal drainage, otitis problems related to drainage and in some cases, asthma.

Other phenolics include Gallic Acid, derived from tannins, a component of almost all plants. Tannins are generally found in the roots, stems, trunks, or barks of plants or trees, they are also present in up to 80% of foods, including wine, beer, tea, cheese, egg, garlic, ginger, milk, strawberry, other fruits and yeast.

So they were just two examples of many more such as:

  • Apiol
  • Cinnamic acid
  • Coumarin
  • Dopamine
  • Histamine
  • Indole
  • Malvin
  • Menadione
  • Norepinephrine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Phenylisothiocyanate
  • Phloridzin
  • Piperine
  • Pyrrole
  • Quercetin
  • Rutin
  • Salsolinal
  • Serotonin
  • Uric acid
  • Candida Albicans – (Candida is not a phenolic, however it produces numerous phenolic compounds that increase the allergy response, weaken the immune system, and can be related to increased reactions to petrochemical based substances such as perfume.

These phenolic sensitivities are not only abundant they are in everyday foods and personal care products, but here is a list the range of symptoms they produce in the body from arthritis, asthma, attention difficulties, dyslexia, depression, headaches, joint pain, fatigue, the list goes on.

So one phenolic can be in as many as 200 foods, and if you have a sensitivity or intolerance for more than one, you can see how it becomes impossible to not only avoid all the foods, but you also have to consider the amount of immune-suppression medication you are going to need which can potentially lead to long-term health challenges.  (I regularly see in practice, five or six phenolics present for clients who have a weakened immune system especially in cases of Lyme disease, chronic fatigue, arthritis and children with Autism).  What you really need to consider here is that it is not just foods you are reacting to, but also your personal care products, medications and you will also be sensitive to your supplements including nutritional supplements and herbals!  And this is before we get on to discussing methylation, glycolysis or the Krebs cycle and the effects of organic acids and Salicylates.

So let’s focus on the solution.

A good example is there are three aromatic compounds (phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan) which  are always found in proteins, this is significant given that an allergic reaction to foods are primarily caused by the peptide chains the proteins are broken down into. (i.e  A1 Casein, which we don not have the enzyme to metabolise).  The root cause is the oversensitivity for their shared phenolic, so this is what needs to be treated.  This then avoids the need to treat each food allergen individually or suppress histamine production or mast cell activation.  I’m not saying don’t use suppressive medications in the short-term, they will help with temporary relief, but whilst you are doing so, do the additional work required to modulate and strengthen the immune system and help to prevent longer-term health problems.  And bear in mind, the people who are now introducing immune suppression medications are already dealing with high levels of inflammation in the body which will also be being treated depending on the diagnosis given for this initially.

The ASYRA addresses these stressors in a more holistic way and addresses the core processes of hypersensitivity and toxic accumulation which have triggered the immune responses.  It does this by:

  • Identifying the foods, chemicals, metals, pathogens etc that are causing stress to the body
  • Reducing or removing (where possible) these allergens in the diet and environment
  • Treating the allergens in order of priority so that the body is reprogrammed not to react in a hypersensitive way to what are benign substances or ‘mixed’ messages.  (by weakening their signals).
  • assisting the body to detoxify by amplifying healthy but weakened signals in the detox pathways of the major organs systems.

The remedy produced by the ASYRA contains the balancing frequencies to re-educate the immune system, these are typically digitally imprinted into an energetic carrier solution such as 10% organic brandy, sugar pillules or another type of enzymatic carrier (such as almond oil).  A good example of this is where we give a client the traditional remedy as in the drops, but also imprint into a natural protein cream such as MAFActive as the enzymatic carrier.  It gets even more interesting when we use a technique called Isotherapy  To find out more about using immunotherapy to heal your health, read here.
