1. Get a Baseline

A baseline is a fixed point of reference that is used for comparison purposes. In health challenges, this can be useful to help tomonitor the progress and celebrate the smaller successes.

1).  The ATEC

The Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist, or ATEC, is one of the most widely used assessment tools in the autism community. The checklist is designed to evaluate the efficacy of treatments as well as to monitor how an individual progresses over time. The ATEC is used by parents and researchers as well as by schools, medical and behavioral clinics, and insurance companies. Over a half million ATECs have been completed over the past two decades.

The ATEC contains a total of 77 questions that are classified into four subscales: Speech/Language/Communication, Sociability, Sensory/Cognitive Awareness, and Physical/Health/Behavior. The ATEC is available free of charge online; you can download it in PDF format HERE. Besides English, the ATEC is available in 21 different languages, such as Chinese, Czech, Japanese, French, Italian, and Spanish.

2. Clean up the Toxic Environment

1).  Are You Toxic?

 Is the environment you are living in a source of environmental toxicity?  Use this helpful ‘Toxin Exposure Questionnaire’ from the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM)

2).  WI-Fi Protection

Electrosmog refers to the sum total of all exposure to the invisible electromagnetic radiation resulting from the use of both wireless technology and mains electricity. The most common sources of wireless electrosmog are:

  • Cordless phones.
  • Cordless baby alarms.
  • Mobile/cellular phone masts/towers/transmitters.
  • Wi-Fi/ Wireless networks

Electrosmog has been linked with a condition known as electrosensitivity (ES) or electrohypersensitivity (EHS).  Symptoms can include:

  • Headaches
  • Disruptive sleep patterns
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Depression
  • Hypersensitivity and erratic blood pressure
  • Skin complaints
  • Behavioural patterns in children

Children, the elderly and anyone with a lowered immune system are most at risk from the health effects and this includes children with Autism.  There is also concerns regarding the risk to the unborn foetus developing in the womb.

A recent study has linked the Electrosmog with reducing melatonin production in the pineal gland. This is important because melatonin induces sleep and the body can only heal and restore during sleep, however melatonin is also one of the most effective and potent neuroprotective chemicals in the central nervous system, it is the house clearing molecule of the brain and helps prevent damage from environmental toxiciyt.  Without melatonin and sleep, there is no regeneration and no detoxification.

The health effects from electrosmog can take 10 – 20 years to manifest themselves, however for some, the effect can appear immediately.

I have no doubt in my mind that at the present time, the greatest polluting element in the earth’s enviroment is the proliferation of electromagnetic fields.   I consider that to be far greater on a global scale, than warming, and the increase in chemical elements in the environment.”

In the meantime if you are worried about the effects of EMF’s, here’s a few actions you can take now to reduce exposure

  • No Smart meter
  • No Wi-Fi, go back to broadband
  • No Cordless phones, go back to corded
  • No Compact fluorescent lights
  • No Microwaves

At night time, create a sleeping sanctuary to limit the exposure to electrosmog

  • Turn OFF all the fuses (even the breaker switch).
  • Turn OFF all the wi-fi and wireless devices at night (examples of devices that should not be present include cordless phone and especially the base, RF baby monitors (get a non-digital version) and wireless speakers
  • Ensure any appliances (fridge, freezers, TV’s Stereos, computers, digital clock/radios – should not be within 6ft of the sleeping area, this includes the rooms next door or rooms below and above.
  • Electrica appliance such as lamps, extension cords, alarm clocks or radios – only use a battery powered device.

Additional protective products

Signals can penetrate through walls, floors or ceilings, so bear this in mind when looking for protection from unremovable sources such as mast, substations and neighbouring wi-fi.

5. Structural Line Up

1).  Visit a Osteopath/Cranial Osteopath

Structural misalignments can play a big part in your child’s comfort and pain levels and impede progress

2).  Dental work

Also check in addition to the usual check-up, the TMJ/Jaw alignments.  This is key to the nightly housekeeping of the brain which requires the swallowing action to move the lymphatic system.

3).  Scar Tissue

6. Upgrade the Body Software

Think of it like this, we are all energetic beings.  The body is running on programs and while we constantly upgrade the programs running our devices, when did you last upgrade your body software?

1).  De-sensitize

Not all sensitivities are true allergies, there are times when the body has got its messages mixed up, and when we upgrade the information systems, then the old programs are deleted and no longer running.  For those who are over sensitive try ‘EH PHEN’.

2).  Kick-start

What is the impact of ongoing stress on the body?  Generally a state of high alert which has become stuck.  The impact of stress on the body, triggers the ‘fight or flight’ mechanism, which is essential to shut down unnecessary functions to redirect energy to essential survival mechanisms.  However in our modern ‘Western’ way of living, our brains do not recognise the difference, between a ‘real danger’ i.e fight or flight, and a perceived threat.  This can get the body ‘STUCK’ in the alert mode.  For those where the cell danger response is stuck try ‘EH MITO’
