Most reputable health food stores will sell an ‘acidophilus’ type probiotic, personally for anything to do with ears, nose and throat, I would look at the Bravo yogurt, i’ts more expensive than using a capsule, however there are many benefits to having the probiotics ready for action in the ready-made yogurt. As Dr Marco Ruggiero teaches, a probiotic is like adding a soldier to you internal army, having the Bravo is like adding the solidier, with the whole Battalion and it weaponry!

The most important part of the article I wrote is really the advice from Dr N C_McB, in that the antibiotics whilst they have a short term effect in killing any bacteria, the body has already started to product a mucus which is not removed by the antibiotics. When you add in probiotics and re-inoculate the whole nose, ears and throat area, then the probiotics get to work and seem to inject any remaining mucos. The Bravo yogurt is particularly good for this, as the probiotics are in their natural environment, and ‘ready for action’, I have seen the Bravo have some wonderful effects, when it is held on the back of the throat before swallowing.

So my 4 year old was diagnosed with glue ear after several GP visits and hospital visits. He hearing is effected and therefore also her speach. It is not constant – some days are better than others. We use the glue ear balloon which seems to help sometimes but I wanted to know if you have any recommendations for glue ear and how to treat it at home (without grommets). She has been on several weeks of antibiotics which has cleared it for that time – but as soon as she’s come of them her hearing has been reduced again. I want to avoid antibiotics. We are now also living in the states so hospital visits are costly and we want to avoid these as much as possible.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
