What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants with tremedous healing properties. They are powerfully aromatic in fragrance, yet the Yet the use of essential oils goes well beyond their fragrant appeal, it is the natural medicinal properties behind the smell of the essential oils that provide the most natural and therapeutic benefits for health. Essential oils can lift the mood, calm the senses, and elicit powerful emotional responses and effecting physical, metal and emotional health.
Essential oils have been used for over 5,000 years in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Dis-satifaction within the current health practices of modern allopathic medicine and suppression of symptoms rather than treating the cause have generating a natural trend towards more holistic approaches to self care such as aromatherapy and a growing scientific evidence base for the validation of alternative health practices.
However, don’t be confused by the many oils around, which can be superior quality blends and without the therapeutic grade quality of the essential oils. I use and I am a UK distributor for YoungLiving Essential Oils and I take my responsibility very seriously in how I advise my clients to use them and more importantly how not to abuse them and respect their powerful medicinal and therapeutic properties, see guidelines at the bottom of this page.
The Quality of the Essential Oils
Young Living Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) essential oils are pure, natural, aromatic compounds carefully extracted from plants. They do not contain fillers or artificial ingredients that would dilute their active qualities and are free of contaminants such as pesticides or other chemical residues.
Many oils claim to be therapeutic grade, and some may be pure, but few are subjected to rigorous testing standards for chemical composition. YoungLiving CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils are cross tested using Mass Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography to ensure both the extract purity and composition potency of each batch.
The book by Gary Young is an essential guide for anyone wanting to use the oils to their best advantage and fully understand their properties, applications and uses
