As many as 1 in 4 people are affected by an allergy at some time in their life and the incidence of allergic conditions have increased fourfold in the last twenty years, more worryingly, 50% of children in the UK now have some form of allergy. Symptoms can range from low energy, digestion problems or headaches, joint pain, skin problems, anxiety, brain fog and energy dips. It’s no wonder children have mood swimming or melt downs!
There are only seven types of food that account for the majority of food allergies or sensitivities, dairy, gluten, sugar, alcohol, peanuts, eggs and mold-containing foods.
We can also be sensitive to the chemicals within processed foods and the packaging materials used. Processing reduces the nutrients and introduces toxicity from additives such as genetically modified foods (GMO’s), preservatives, colour additives, flavour enhancers like monosodium glutamate (MSG), processed salt and unnatural sweeteners such as saccharine and aspartame.
Packaging can be harmful from plastic containers containing BisphenolA (BPA’s) and toxic metal salts. Identifying and eliminating or reducing the sources of allergies can help reduce the allergen load and eliminate the symptoms.
Drugs, topical creams and medications don’t actually treat illness they merely mask the symptoms without addressing the root cause. They may provide temporary relief from symptoms, but they are not going to prevent the same condition from re-occurring and they can often cause uncomfortable side effects. In addition, the body is getting an additional load of even more difficult to metabolize chemicals which can actually be contributing to making symptoms worse.
Constipation, allergies, diarrhoea, headaches, skin rashes etc. as unpleasant as they all are, they are our bodies way of communicating that something is wrong.
